Properly Framing the Gay Argument Pt.2

In the article Properly Framing the Gay Argument, I showed the parallels between the argument for and against homosexuality. As the debate continues to rage on (as it will) I want to follow-up about the dangers of picking a side. What do I mean about picking a side? Rather than looking at this through the eyes of the scripture but instead looking at this moral issue through the eyes of immoral men and women who claim to be purveyors of truth.
This issue has turned into a debate by political whores on both sides of the aisle who simply want your vote. The “Right” tries to play up its religious pedigree, simply to receive your vote. This proposes many issues. Maybe you disagree with their policy and many of their views, yet you vote for them and their country crippling policy, as long as they are against gays. This is nothing new. I’ve been in the Ekklesia (church) where we were told “not to vote for the issues, but for your conscience.” That makes absolutely no sense to vote for a politician who undermines how you feel about issues that personally affect your life. The problem with the Left is they play for the emotional vote. While there is a point to be made, no one group has the God card. Secondly, we do have to treat people with dignity. Yet, is it really about dignity or is it about votes. When it comes to politicians, it’s about the constituency and votes; overall it’s about winning.
God isn’t silent when it comes to his involvement in governments.
(Jewish New Testament Daniel 4:17 ) “This order is issued by the watchers, the sentence is announced by the holy ones, so that all who live may know that the Most High rules the human kingdom, that he gives it (Governments of this world) to whomever he wishes and can raise up over it the lowliest of mortals.”
Also God isn’t silent concerning politicians. “Anyone who says, “I know him,” but isn’t obeying his commands is a liar-the truth is not in him.”(1John 2:4)
Furthermore, In the past, God overlooked such ignorance; but now he is commanding all people everywhere to turn to him from their sins. For he has set a Day when he will judge the inhabited world, and do it justly, by means of a man whom he has designated. And he has given public proof of it by resurrection this man from the dead.”(Acts 17:30-31)
That silence applies to Governments, as well as people. But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah (law), which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does.
Whoever obeys Gods laws and world laws are blessed. What about the seekers of your vote who stomp over Gods laws continuously? (James 1:25)
Sometimes within the spiritual sphere problems can be easily corrected without compromising. A case in point is Winston-Salem Pastor Ron Baity of Return America who said, “I got fired.” Baity had been invited to lead the prayer in the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2009 but ran into trouble after he used the name Jesus in his prayer.
What amused me about the Baity affair is it could have been handled better. My first thought, is standard practice for prayers being given? Then I come across a joint statement released by Hackney and House Republican Leader Paul Stam stating that they are intending to “review” their procedures:
It has been our practice in the North Carolina House of Representatives for many years to request, but not require, that our guest chaplains deliver a nonsectarian prayer. This is intended as a show of respect for all the religions practiced by the members of the House and the people we represent.
In this instance, we allowed Pastor Baity to deliver his prayer, without interference, even though it was sectarian in nature. Nonetheless, we will review our procedures and guidelines concerning guest chaplains, and we will make sure we abide by applicable constitutional procedures. The House will adjourn within the next few days, but the results of this review will be publicly available whenever it is complete.

How we use decorum is most important, but when we sound like complainers, it makes believers look undisciplined. While I understand Pastor Baity’s concerns, he has to point the finger at himself for simply assuming without knowing. Instead he publicly expresses his grievance openly and publicly. His fight was taken to Fox News Radio.
The problem that never seems to be addressed is the Founding Fathers. It’s always stated they knew what they were talking about. If that is true we should follow what they say. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”. Stop adding Christian to their titles. They were not Christian men but deists.  They had a form of godliness but denied the power (2Tim3:5). Reread your beloved Constitution and don’t omit the parts you don’t like. To sum this up! All Baity had to do was simply say “we pray in you sons mighty and precious name.” The Messiah would have gotten the praise and glory and Baity the victory.
Pastor Baity is also in the news for wanting to pass an anti- gay marriage amendment to stop Satan’s attack on marriage here in North Carolina. Same sex marriage is already against the law but politically conservative and religious groups say it’s needed to preserve NC State Law that defines marriage as between on man and one woman. Once again, not to sound redundant, we already have it on the books that marriage is between a man and woman.
Baity has every right to speak on the sanctity of marriage as well as other have the right to speak out against him and his beliefs. No manner of legislation can be leveled against morality. God is in charge not votes, what happens in his favor or not is God’s plan; not man. Instead of attacking an issue that didn’t matter before this act of defiance could actually burn conservatives in the end. Keep the state law as it is rather than opening Pandora’s Box for no good reason.
The focus should be upon the Ekklesia (church), how we should live and be counted. Marriage seems to be the talking point. Really, it’s the wrong fight. Do gays marrying affect your marriage, or are you intimidated by them. 47 percent of marriages end in divorce, while 60-80 percent of marriages last the second time around. The numbers between born-again (marriage?) compared to non-born again is only a 1 percent difference, yet people are so worried about someone else’s house crumbling.
Lastly, battle lines are drawn so we must choose wisely. Scripture teaches, we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Eph6:12). The weapons of our warfare in not carnal (2Cor10:4). As believers we have to stop with treating the symptom and fix the problem. The sinner has one sin, and that is not excepting the saving grace of the Creator.
